Another tough tournament for most of us as the morning started out ok, but the wind soon picked up and was howling by 9am or so and affected the fisherman mostly. Of the 23 anglers fishing seven did not boat a keeper bass and 9 others only landing one or two bass, but several did catch some nice trout, a few pickerel and A.J. hooked a huge carp in the mouth. Pete Byrnes did manage three nice bass for 9.27 pounds earning him $86.00 for 4th place.

Although only three limits were caught --they were impressive starting with Paul Wanczyk’s 14.77 pound 3rd place finish earning him$115.00. Ryan Bell’s 2nd place 17.21 pound limit was topped off and a monster 6.36 lunker of the day and he took home $461.00 for both awards. Using finesse techniques Vern Gadson’s spider jigs and small black Ned Rigs in 10 to 20 feet of water hauled in a total of 18.22 pounds for 1st place and earned him $579.00.

Our next tournament is set for May 14th at Lake Lillinonah launching out from the Steel Bridge ramp. Tournament hours are from 6am to 2pm with the mandatory partner and pairing meeting starting at 5:30 am.
